Outfit Post: Out with the Old

Today’s outfit is a mix of old and new. While in Paris, Bug and I replaced pretty much my entire wardrobe from shoes, to undies, to clothes and jewelry. Partly because none of it fit me any longer, and partly because I had this intense need to scrub everything from the past from my life. When I arrived home, I filled 6 garbage bags with clothes and donated them, leaving just a handful of things from before my life imploded.

Since it’s foggy and damp, I’ve returned to my typical way of dressing: layers, scarves, and boots. I wanted something casual for my hair today and originally did beachy waves, but it looked too fussy with my scarf. Instead, I pinned two messy side buns. It looks polished from the front, but a mess from the back. What do you think?

The Outfit:

Sweater: GAP

Long Sleeve T-shirt: Hakai

Skirt: Gray cord from Banana Republic (this is one of my old items. It’s way too big, but I love it.)

Tights: Wolford Velvet de Luxe 50 in navy

Boots: Gray 4-inch heels from BCBG

Bag: Ted Baker

Scarf: Diwali

DC: Speed Trip

You all know I thrive on spontenaity, right? So it shouldn’t surprise you that last Monday – three days before I was to fly home to San Francisco – I looked at Bug and said, “Let’s go to DC.”

And so we did.

As soon as we arrived in Northern Virginia, we just knew that it was a place we could live.

So Bug made a few calls. We looked at schools, the weather, the quality of life. We found a house we love.

And…it looks like, if everything goes right, we’re moving to DC!

In less than a week, we went from random suggestion, to planning a cross country move.

But DC wasn’t all about finding a new place to live, we also took the boys sightseeing – mostly at 8am because we’re all jet lagged and awake at 4. We basically had everything to ourselves, which was awesome.
